Be Your Own Model - Self Portrait with a Mirror

In these 4 weeks, you will get to express who you are through a self-portrait. The work will be done from observation using a mirror. Even though YOU will be the main focus, you can create a unique setup and personalize it with additional items that would identify your roots, occupation, taste (in clothes or foods), etc. Similar to Van Gogh’s and Gauguin’s chairs, your surroundings reflect your personality. You can decorate yourself with your favorite adornments to emphasize the features you want to portray. You can also thoughtfully design the background that you will see in the mirror, for example, arrange your own artworks, paintbrushes, textiles, and any other possessions that will be interesting to depict. Whether you are inspired by classic masters or contemporary artists, you will decide - to make it purely a painting or a mixed media. The size is also up to you, including life-size. Preparation is key! The more creativity and attention you put into arranging your environment in advance, BEFORE the course starts, the more exciting and rewarding this work will feel for you.
