Facial Structure: Feature by Feature

In this 5-week course, you will learn to draw facial anatomy by focusing on individual features, one per week, before bringing them together in a final drawing.

Course Overview:

This course will explain facial anatomy in a way that is rarely taught in such a detailed approach and with close attention to the individual features. Each week, we will concentrate on a specific part—the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears—culminating in a final class where you'll integrate all these elements into an anatomically accurate drawing of a portrait.

Week-by-Week Focus:

• Week 1: Eyes: their structure, proportions, and the nuances of expression.
• Week 2: Nose: understanding of its geometry and structure, variety of shapes, dimensionality, and typical mistakes. 
• Week 3: Mouth: lips, teeth, and the surrounding muscles that cause a multitude of shapes and expressions.
• Week 4: Ears: the ear anatomy, its shape, and anatomical construction from different angles.
• Week 5: Bringing It all together: In the final class, grasp the concept of proportions, measurements, and foreshortening, understand the principle behind age-progression, and learn how to assemble all facial features into a lifelike representation.
  

How It is Taught:

Through demonstrations, guided exercises, and individual feedback, refine your drawing of the face and gain a better understanding of its features. This step-by-step approach ensures a better control over facial anatomy, allowing you to create realistic and expressive portraits.
