Continue drawing on top of your underpaintings from class. Take lots of progress photos!
To prepare for next week, bring any works you want to continue working on or need feedback on. If you've finished all your pieces, bring all your supplies (gouache and oil pastels) to create more pieces during class with either your favorite techniques or techniques you need more experience with.
Finish your textured drawing from class.
To prepare for next week, I recommend to have at least 4 underpaintings painted with gouache or tempera. You can continue to use the photo references we've used in the course, but I've also added a few more for you to choose from. You're welcome to use your own references as well.
Finish your piece from class if you didn't finish. Remind yourself of the most important aspects: tonal values and proportions. Believe that the oil pastels can override your underpainting if you need to change the shape / tone - because it can! Don't feel confined to what's already painted. You are in full control.
Keep your first and second underpaintings as they are - even if they're incomplete, messy, and sketchy. Complete your third and fourth underpaintings from class. Focus on proportions, color, and tone - define it as much as you'd like. Make sure your third and fourth underpaintings are more refined than your first and second underpaintings.
