This is our first project completed in 2025! This project was your creation from the conception to completion. This grand beginning must have an equal or greater ending. Upon completion, every student will present their piece in front of the group.
Learning how to present your artwork is an important part of Prima Materia artist training. Presenting is a vital and beneficial artistic practice for everyone. Scheduling your presentation is also a great way to get organized! The deadline gives you purpose, energy, and even clarity. It is during the presentation when you begin to recognize: “I can actually be comfortable talking about myself and my art in front of others!”
Schedule of Presentations, February 6-7, 2025
Please send me your preferred day for presenting!
- Thursday Feb. 6
- Friday Feb. 7
Presentation Requirements
- Your piece must be fully completed by the date of your presentation. Your artwork must be hung for everyone to see. You will present it by standing in front of or beside it.
- Check your camera to make sure that the artwork is in sharp focus and fully visible on the screen.
- Check your mic to confirm that the distance allows you to be heard (your presentation will be recorded and available for you to watch and improve).
- Give the process of preparation your full attention! This practice will help you feel more comfortable in the future when you start to submit your work to art galleries or present it to college panels, museum curators, and art collectors.
- Have a written presentation; read it out loud, create a bullet point prompt, practice several times in front of the mirror, record and watch yourself, and time yourself - in order to make your delivery smooth, succinct, and entertaining.
- Try not to read your text during the presentation. It is OK to miss some of the facts but make your delivery lively, emotional, animated, and informative.
DURING THE PRESENTATIONS
When you are the Audience:
Get comfortable, get yourself a cup of your favorite beverage to help you relax and enjoy everyone’s presentations. Please help the Presenter get the most out of their experience:
- Have a pen and paper handy and take notes.
- Please mute yourself.
- During the presentation take notes that you may want to share with the artist.
- After each presentation, be ready to ask the presenter questions, offer your comments, your impression, and ask to explain some of the details.
- Think of what you would like to know from an artist and their work.
- Don't hold back. Be comfortable offering productive criticism: for example, is there anything that can be improved?
When you are the Presenter:
Please watch the clock. Your presentation should be succinct, no more than 5-7 minutes, to leave time for comments, questions, and answers.
