Continue working until you're done.
Done doesn't mean realistic, or highly detailed . Done, in this style, means you've achieved your goal, whatever that may be, whether it was expressing the tonal values, or textures, or simply doing something completely different than last time, once you'll fulfilled the purpose of the piece, then you can consider it finished.
Is it satisfying, or is there a little tinge in your heart that says "keep going - resolve this." Sometimes, the only way to hear that little voice (different than the internal critic), is to take a break from the piece and come back to it a bit later.
To prepare for next week:
Have a larger canvas ready, as you'll work on the same artwork for two weeks. If you liked starting on black, paint your canvas before class starts.
You're also invited to bring your own photo of a bouquet, or use the one IÂ will send out.
Continue working on your bouquet if you haven't completed it yet. Treat this as a study, a practice piece, to experiment. If you begin to get attached, or begin to hesistate, it's a sign to either stop and/or start a new piece.
Paint your second canvas black in preparation for week 2. The canvas must be dry before class.
