Painting Eyes - The Mirror to the Soul

Black Blick Premium tempera paint, diluted to 60% paint, 40% distilled water
Bristle paint brushes, variety of sizes
White cardstock paper
Small airtight cup to keep diluted tempera in
Cup for water
Paper towels
Clothes you don't mind getting paint on

Sketchbook 8x10” or larger
Graphite pencil 4B or 6B
Good quality eraser (Artgum or your favorite eraser)
Acrylic paints: basic palette of black, white, yellow, red, magenta, and blue. We’ll use the primary colors to mix all the needed tones. More advanced students can use oils.
Canvas 9x12 (or larger)
2 very small oval-shaped canvases - 4x5” or 4x6” (optional: very small rectangular or square canvases)
Large canvas 16x20” (or larger) - for the last assignment (some students may prefer a square canvas or a large oval, instead of rectangular. Size can be of your choice, for example 20x20”, 24x24”, 30x30”.)
Brushes of various shapes and sizes: filberts, rounds, and flats, large and small. At least one brush must be #00 (very small, round, pointy)
Palette: Reynolds Freezer paper, or paper plates, or piece of glass.
Masking tape - for taping down paper palette.
Handheld mirror
