The warm days of summer call for a specific palette: much brighter and more dazzling. In summer, artists are inspired to capture the beauty of water and greenery. German expressionists, the Impressionists, Fauvists - they painted landscapes with such pizzaz that we want to learn from them - how to express the joy and happiness of summer.

We will touch upon color mixing, brushwork, choice of brushes, creation of color harmonies, composition, how to paint reflections - all that you need to create a landscape that is the epitome of summer.

There are many ways to paint a seascape; the instructor will first lead you through several small studies, each on its own small-format canvas, to explore a variety of approaches. Then, you’ll switch to a larger canvas and make your own decision about how you’d like to paint a landscape - this is where you’ll be invited to bring your own photos to paint from! Your teacher will also send out references, in case you’d prefer to follow along with their demonstration.

The objective of the course is to help you be able to make your own decisions while painting seascapes and to discover your style of brushwork that resonates with your personality.

Personalized feedback to each student is included. All painting experiences are welcome and complete beginners are invited to “get their feet wet” with this ultimate summer course.
